The Witch

This is what we'll be creating

This is what you'll need

Jasc Paint Shop Pro

Let's get started!

Create a new image 400x400, transparent.

Create a new vector layer and name it Head. Select the Preset Shapes tool. Settings - Shape = Ellipse, Create as vector and Anti-alias checked, Line style = Solid, Width = 5. Set your colors as follows, Foreground = #F9CCC5, Background = #F9D4CD. Draw out a small ellipse (about 60x60). Shape as below:

The finished head should be about 57x60.

Create a new vector layer and name it Nose. Select the Preset Shapes tool again same settings except change Width to 2. Change Foreground color to #F9C6BF and draw out a smaller ellipse. Right click on the node on the left and Delete (Edit - Delet) this node. Shape the three remaining nodes as below. You don't have to make your nose exacly like I did, use your imagination!

Create a new vector layer and name it Bottom Lip. Change your colors to Foreground = #C71B17, Background = #E7322B or any colors you want to use. Just make sure the background is slighly lighter. Select the Preset Shapes, change the width to 1 and draw out a small ellipse. Shape as below.

I know it looks a little like a smile right now but it won't for long.

Create a new vector layer and name it Upper lip. Select Preset Shapes tool same settings and draw out another small ellipse. Shape it as below. See how this goes over the bottom lip so it looks more like a frown.

Create a new vector layer and name it Neck. Select Preset Shapes tool change Width back to 5 and change both background and foreground #F9D4CD. Draw out another ellipse and shape as below. After you finish shaping drag this layer below your head layer.

Create a new vector layer and name it Hair left. Drag this layer behind the neck layer. Select the Preset Shapes tool and draw out another ellipse same settings, change your colors to the hair colors of your choice (I used Foreground = #5D3E0D, Background = #65430D). Shape as below, I know this looks a little weird but the hood will cover most of it so don't worry.

Create a new vector layer and name it Hair right. Drag this layer to the top. Again select the Preset Shapes tool, same settings, and draw out another ellipse and shape as below.

Kind of looks like she has dog ears huh? lol Well trust me she only looks like that for a second.

Create a new vector layer and name it Dress. Select the Preset Shapes tool settings same as before except change width to 2. Change colors to Foreground = #818282 and Background = #9A9A9A. Draw out a very large ellipse. Shaping this one is a little difficult but it's well worth it. Shape as below.

You can do this in a few different ways but I made the hood go up on the left side and then connected the left side by breaking the top and bottom and joining them.(right click on node - edit)

Make sure you leave a space on the left like in the screen shot.

Create a new vector layer and name it Inside hood. Select the Preset Shapes tool again. Change Foreground to null and bacground = #777777. Draw out an ellipse and fill the space left earlier.

Create a new vector layer and name it Line 1. Colors set to foreground = #818282 and background to null. Select the Pen tool settings, Line style = Solid, Width = 2 Anti-alias checked. Draw out a line like this.

Create a new vector layer and name it Line 2. Pen tool same settings. Draw out another line to connect the V of the neck.

Create another new vector layer and name it Line 3. Draw out a small line at the top of the hood like so.

Create a new vector layer and name it Line 4. Draw another small line but this time where the arm is.

And repeat.

One more and that's all!

Now this is what I have at this point.

You have two choices now. You can follow on with me for the little final touches or finish it on your own.

Decided to follow me huh? Well I'll try not to mislead you ;o)

Start by making the head layer active and Converting it to raster. Select the Lighten/Darken tool settings = shape round, size 5, hardness 50, Step 25, Op. and Density 100. Lightly add a little shine to her right cheek like below. Also add a drop shadow, settings = Vertical - 3, Horizontal -4, Opacity 50, Blur= 16.

Convert both lip layers to raster and add a little shine to them again using the Lighten/Darken tool but change size to 2.

Now convert line 6 to raster and add a Gaussian blur = radius 1.50

I didn't like her hair as it was so I made it curly. If you're using PSP8 then you can do this easily. Select the Paint brush tool and load the preset Hair- tight curls. Set your colors to Foreground = #65430D Background = #5D3E0D. Change the size of the brush to about 4. Go along the edges of the hair line until you're happy with the look.

That's basically all I did. Add a cauldron and you've got yourself a witch!!
